Weekly Update 3/5/23
Hi all! Welcoming in March with a LOT ahead.
We have a lot going on as we bring our short course season to an end. September through March all of our meets are swam in a 25 yard pool, (Short course yards SCY)same as Alpine's pool. April to July some of our meets are set up 50 meters like an Olympic pool (long course meters LCM) swimming is big on acronyms. CANDY meets are not 50meter meets they are always 25 yard meets. And perfect for all swimmers looking to start going to meets. All swimmers in the Yellow, Green, Orange, Purple groups are HIGHLY encouraged to attend all meets below.
We have 3 swimmers attending the Spring Age Group Championships in Santa Clara this coming weekend Ella M, Makayla C, Alexys B, Will all be representing Alpine Hills and PASA. Ella swimming the max amount of events allowed 9! Including all the free events possible, 200 back, 100 fly and many many others. Makayla is swimming the 500 free and 200 breast. Alexys, who just came back from representing Zone 1 North at All STARS! crushing some breaststroke in the Relays! Have an amazing meet girls!
April 21 we are hosting one of the PASA candy meets. That meet we will be needing all hands on deck, Literally. To help ensure a fun safe quick meet we will be needing all the help we can get. More info will follow.
The shoutout this week goes to parent Danny Hsu. He became an Official for USA swimming recently. Danny has gone through all the steps and passed with FLYING colors. Becoming an official has a ton of benefits and is a great way to give back to swimming. Below is a zoom link to begin your next steps to become an official. Parents signing up as chaperones for the travel trip are like 50% of the way there.
